There is still no official word on what Game Freak and Nintendo have planned for the next mainline "Pokémon" game, but rumors behind Gen 10 point to the game having an island or ocean setting once it arrives.
However, a new report is providing more details on the game's setting, claiming that it will be similar to the map found in "Pokémon Sun and Moon."
'Pokémon' Gen 10 Map Reportedly Similar to 'Sun and Moon'
Fans of "Pokémon Sun and Moon" may be getting a blast from the past in the next mainline game from Game Freak and Nintendo as it is reportedly getting an almost similar map as the old Nintendo 3DS game, as per ComicBook Gaming.
It has been previously rumored that that the next installment of the franchise will feature an experience that revolves around the "island life."
However, this has already been seen before in "Pokémon Sun and Moon," a game from 2016 which centered on four main islands with different locations or regions to explore. Each of them had the protection of a "Divine Pokémon."
The latest rumor suggests that the new game will have a similar map to "Pokémon Sun and Moon," which centers on the setting being surrounded by bodies of water.
That being said, the Alola Region will not be fully adopted into the new "Pokémon" Gen 10 release as the next game will reportedly feature 12 islands for players to explore, and this alone is thrice as much as the previous game.
Apart from this, the new rumor suggests that there will be 8 "Divine Pokemon" that will be present to protect the islands, and then there will be "two Knights" which are the cover art Legendaries of the game.
The Ocean Setting Lives On in 'Pokémon' Gen 10 Rumors
"Pokémon Scarlet and Violet" may have focused on a massive island that is surrounded by the ocean, but the rumors behind "Pokémon" Gen 10 claim that it would be different than what the predecessor offers.
In "Scarlet and Violet," the map is based on the Iberian Peninsula, which is a whole island itself, but the next mainline installment is reportedly based on the Greek archipelago of the Cyclades.
Despite the new rumor comparing the next game's map to "Pokémon Sun and Moon," it still follows up on the initial leak regarding the ocean setting for the game. Alongside this, 'ride Pokémon' are reportedly also set to return, which is expected to affect transportation and Pokémon catching experiences.
Lastly, the rumor points out that "Pokémon" Gen 10 may not have any gym battles, similar to "Pokémon Legends: Arceus" and "Pokémon Sun and Moon."
