ARK: Survival Evolved finally got its long-awaited v762 update on Xbox One and brings the Otter and Phoenix to the game two weeks after their debut on PS4. Here are the full patch notes courtesy of Studio Wildcard.
Current Version: v762
- New Creature: The Otter
- New Creature: Phoenix
- Fixed some UI text display/alignment issues
- Increased client-side UI performance of large scrollable lists (inventory item lists, engram list, server list, etc)
- Client-side CPU performance increase
- Fixed Cluster Session List UI incorrectly applying search filters
- Fixed various client crashes
- Enabled building in orbit camera mode
- Updated the Ice Wyvern Model and fixed 'invisible' dino issue.
- Updated Translations
- Added option to cancel PGM Generation
These patch notes essentially parrot a patch that was released on PS4 around Sept. 9. However, power-related issues tied to Hurricane Irma and an extra long certification process kept the content from arriving on Microsoft’s system earlier. The good news is, because the Xbox fixes are basically comprised of the last two rounds of PS4 ones, both consoles are now at basic parity with one another. They only need to receive the new Tek gear that arrived on PC earlier this week to be totally current.
For those who missed the memo on what the Phoenix and Otter can do, the Otter is a low-level tame that travels as a companion and provides insulation when kept on the player’s back. It’s also quite good at finding fish and pearls too. On the other end of the spectrum, the Phoenix is a challenge for the most skilled survivors. If tamed, this Scorched Earth exclusive is great for combat and cooking food on the go.
Beyond that, the fixes found here are much appreciated. Xbox fans have been waiting for these tweaks for a while, so it’s nice to see Studio Wildcard finally delivering on the promises made to that audience.
One thing we’re eager to keep an eye on is how ARK’s update pattern might change following its official release late last month. While the intent has always been to release console and PC content around the same time, the team has definitely had a difficult time making that happen. Will console players always be subject to delays like this as ARK continues to grow?
ARK: Survival Evolved is available now on PC, Xbox One, PS4, OS X and Linux.
