‘Arrow’ Season 5 Finale Has At Least Five Guest Appearances [MAJOR SPOILERS]

Deathstroke may be returning to 'Arrow'
Deathstroke may be returning to 'Arrow' CW

Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim and series star Stephen Amell weren’t shy about revealing Katrina Law and Manu Bennett will reprise their roles as Nyssa and Deathstroke, but this set photo from the reddit gods proves there is at least one more surprise appearance: Nick Tarabay as Captain Boomerang. If you don’t remember him from Season 3, keep reading below for a quick summary on his backstory, along with every other spoiler and surprise guest (five so far) we know about for the season finale.

Nick Tarabay as Captain Boomerang

Who else is locked up in the supermax ARGUS facility on Lian Yu? None other than Captain Boomerang. Played by Nick Tarabay in Arrow Season 3, he was a member of the Suicide Squad alongside the late Deadshot and Amanda Waller. After a rampage to get revenge on Lyla Michaels for almost killing him, The Flash and Arsenal helped Green Arrow bring Boomerang down. What’s great about Captain Boomerang is he’s one of the only villains, aside from Prometheus, to tactically outsmart Oliver. Now, it looks like they are going to be on the same side of the fight.

Manu Bennett as Deathstroke?

Manu Bennett's physical appearance on the show is such an exciting surprise. He is tied with Malcolm Merlyn for being the all-around best villain in Arrow history, in my book anyways. Deathstroke also appeared in an alternate reality in Arrow’s 100th episode, but last we saw Manu Bennett was in Season 3, when Malcolm Merlyn sent Thea and Oliver to the island to “test them.” Merlyn sent Slade free, but Thea and Oliver were able to work together and put him back in the supermax. All of this came after Deathstroke murdered their mother, Moira, late in Season 2.

Katrina Law as Nyssa al Ghul

Talia al Ghul (Lexa Doig) will go head to head with her sister, Nyssa, in the Arrow season finale. This has been a long time coming and hopefully their dialogue will reveal a little bit about their family history. Talia hasn’t exactly been forthcoming with information about why she left the League, trained Oliver, and now is out to kill him. Even though she didn’t seem to be on the best terms with her father, she’s pissed that Oliver killed Ra’s. Her sister, Nyssa, isn’t. Hopefully, Nyssa can break down Talia’s walls and give us some solid answers. While Deathstroke and Green Arrow handle Prometheus, it looks like it will be up to Nyssa to take down Talia.

Black Siren

Katie Cassidy will appear as Black Siren in the final two episodes of Arrow Season 5. Cassidy, formerly Black Canary, is also set to be a series regular in Arrow Season 6. It’s unclear at this time whose side she will be on: Prometheus or Green Arrow. Either way, her appearance should give us an idea of her story arc for next season. Oliver and Earth-2 Laurel Lance’s relationship was left open-ended the last time we saw Cassidy at midseason. She ended up in ARGUS custody so Oliver could keep her close in hopes she will come to realize her potential to be good.

Malcolm Merlyn

Last we saw Malcolm, the Legends dropped him back off somewhere in 2014, where he was hiding post-Damien Darhk’s rampage on Star City. Even though Malcolm Merlyn was responsible for most of the things that went wrong in Oliver’s life, they’ve always had a sort of mutual respect for one another and always solved their issues with a good ole brawl. The Dark Archer, Green Arrow and Deathstroke all on one team would be EPIC, but we definitely can’t assume Merlyn is back as a good guy. Last time we saw Malcolm on Arrow was in a “Kapushion,” during a flashback. First, he talks with Kovar about business, hands him a mysterious folder, says something about special codes and shipment coming into Russia. Then, at the end, he saves Kovar’s life and asks who did this to you? AFter Kovar’s friend doesn’t respond, Malcolm says, “Well, I’m glad I’m not him.”

Lian Yu

The season finale is titled, “Lian Yu,” and the set photo is from the island in present day, which means that’s probably where this year’s big showdown will take place. Lian Yu is Oliver’s home ground and it would be to his advantage to bring Prometheus to his turf for once. Plus, with all this Russia stuff colliding with the events of the pilot episode, it’s only right the setting is the island where Oliver officially became ‘something else.’

Konstantin Kovar

Kovar almost died because of Oliver, but how Kovar relates to Prometheus and Talia al Ghul (and whether he’s still alive) remains to be seen. Since Malcolm was the last clue we got about how Kovar may be intertwined with present-day Star City, there’s no doubt Kovar’s influence spreads further than Russia. Oliver had no idea what he was getting into when he swore Kovar his enemy.

Prometheus

We know Prometheus is Adrian Chase, not the Vigliante, but his real motives remain unclear. Chase claims his father is Justin Claybourne, but we can’t take that for certain. How did Chase know to contact Talia, go to Russia, and get all this dirt on Oliver? There’s some things we still don't’ know about his identity and it may have something to do with Kovar.

More Apperances?

It’s a safe bet we’ll see Artemis with Prometheus, and Thea, Diggle, Felicity, Mr. Terrific, Wild Dog and any ally associated with Team Arrow. One such guest who hasn’t been confirmed to appear (and probably won’t) is Arsenal. That would be awesome. But more likely would be White Canary. She the only hero, aside from Oliver, who has direct ties to Lian Yu and was introduced in Season 1. She crashed there too… and if the series is going to go full circle back to the pilot episode, it’s only fair White Canary is there too. Plus, you can’t bring back Nyssa again and not have Sara there.

Another big question mark is Vigilante. Since he’s not Adrian Chase, we literally have zero clues as to who this guy is. But since he’s going to be one of the big Season 6 villains, we have to expect Seaosn 5 may leave us with a huge Vigilante cliffhanger.
