Ubisoft promised one week ago that they would release the very first official gameplay trailer of their upcoming game, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla at today's Inside Xbox Event. Well, the event took place today and the gameplay trailer is here, kind of. Check out the trailer below for yourself.
Yep, the highly anticipated gameplay trailer doesn’t actually show off any gameplay. It still filled with cutscenes. And as expected, this didn't sit well with many fans who were hoping for the gameplay footage for over a week. At the time of writing this article, the video has over 16k dislikes and only 10k likes.
After ignoring the bamboozle that Ubisoft pulled, there is still a lot to go on. Valhalla will take full advantage of the new Xbox Series X tech, especially the fast loading times. Developers at Ubisoft want players to have the ‘most immersive experience possible’. Valhalla will also utilize Smart Delivery by Xbox. It means that the copy you bought on Xbox One or One X will also work on Xbox Series X without any extra cost. You won’t have to buy the game twice in order to play on the superior hardware months later.
“As developers, we’re always excited to work with new hardware because it gives us a greater ability to express our creative vision. Assassin’s Creed has always been committed to exploring new technologies and leveraging new consoles’ abilities to deliver the most immersive experience possible.” Ashraf Ismail, Creative Director of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, said in a press statement. “We are excited to be collaborating closely with Microsoft to bring Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to the Xbox Series X”
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is one of the few games that is confirmed for next-gen consoles. The game will launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Stadia, and PC. On PC, Valhalla will be exclusive to Epic Game Store and Uplay. It will also be included in the Ubisoft subscription service, Uplay+.
Ubisoft also announced a pre-order bonus for Valhalla. Anyone who buys the game early will get an additional mission called ‘The Way of the Berserker’. The mission will let you join a Norse Berserker and help him on his quest for revenge.
