DeNA confirmed that the release of Attack on Titan TACTICS in the US is set for this summer. The game also has a scheduled summer release for Canada and Australia. It already launched last week in Japan.
This real-time strategy free-to-play mobile game has players develop their very own Attack on Titan Scout Regiment in order to protect humanity from the monsterous Titans. To ensure that the game appeals to many players, DeNA made sure that to utilize a real-time battle system that was easy to learn and play.
The game is based on the Attack on Titan, or Shingeki no Kyojin, manga series that was written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. The series started in 2009 and by April 2019, already has 28 volumes. An anime series was released in 2013 and the show is currently in its third season. Three anime films have been released along with a live action version, the latter of which was released in 2015.
For the game itself, Attack on Titan TACTICS offers different modes for players. The main mode is the Story mode, which covers the events of the anime's first season. DeNa did say that a season two is being planned.
A "Character Episode" is expected to be added, which offers original stories. Finally there are "Events" where players can experience limited-time content.
Players can choose from a variety of 38 characters including Eren, Mikasa, and Levi. Making the experience even better is that the game characters are voiced by the original anime voice actors. These voice actors agreed to record exclusively for this game.
Much like the series, each of the game's characters come in different roles, have different leader skills, abilities, and special skills. In terms of weapons, DeNA hopes to have at least 70 weapon types at launch.
Attack on Titan TACTICS also features songs by none other than Linked Horizon, the same group that sang the first season opening theme song “Guren no Yumiya” and the second season opening theme “Shinzou wo Sasageyo!”.
Pre-registration of the game is already available.
To spice things up, the official website for Attack on Titan TACTICS offers a Scout Regiment Entrance Exam to determine if you are truly ready. You can take the exam here.
