2K Games is celebrating the BioShock series’ ten year anniversary in a major way: by releasing a BioShock 10th Anniversary Collector’s Edition.
The major draw of the new Collector’s Edition is an 11-inch statue starring a Big Daddy and Little Sister. The statue features both lights and a motorized drill, as well as audio clips of both characters. You can check out an image of the statue below:
The 11.9” statue looks very intricate and finely-detailed, which is important because the Anniversary Edition costs $200 of your hard-earned dollars and the statue is literally the only draw. It had better be a marvelous, whirring, blinking, whirling dervish of a figurine if it’s going to run the price up this high.
Also included in the BioShock 10th Anniversary Collector’s Edition is a copy of BioShock: The Collection, which contains all single-player content from BioShock, BioShock 2 and BioShock Infinite, as well as all single-player DLC, the “Columbia’s Finest” pack, and Director’s Commentary: Imagining Bioshock, featuring Ken Levine and Shawn Robertson. All games are remastered in 1080p.
BioShock: The Collection was originally released back in September 2016 and is currently available at a sale price of $30 through various retailers, PSN and XBox Live.
Finally, the Anniversary Edition comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity, in case you want to replace your baby’s birth certificate or your higher education degrees.
The Anniversary Edition is $200 and scheduled for a Nov. 14 release in the U.S. only. The Anniversary Edition will only be available at GameStop for PS4 and XBox One and through the 2K Store. Pre-orders are now available at both sites.
2K will be throwing a party to celebrate BioShock’s 10th anniversary at this year’s PAX West in Seattle. The party will be open to the public and take place on Sept. 2, featuring cosplay competitions, photo ops and live music. More details on the party are available here.
2K Games has also launched a new BioShock YouTube channel here for “classic trailers, highlights of some of our favorite fan videos, cool DIY creations and more in the coming months.”
While the statue is admittedly intricate and looks sublime, you could just pick up BioShock: The Collection for $30 and literally enjoy a third of what’s available in the Anniversary Edition for a fraction of that $200 price. Is the figurine really, really worth it?
What do you think about the BioShock 10th Anniversary Collector’s Edition? Are you looking forward to adding a new piece of merch to your collector’s shelf, or is the statue not enough of a draw for $200? Feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
