Following the recent announcement that Black Desert will finally be making its way to the PS4 this August, developer Pearl Abyss has now also set a beta testing period for the game available to all players on the platform – even those without PlayStation Plus subscriptions.
The beta testing for the MMO is being rolled out as preparation for its eventual full release this August. The beta runs from August 9 at 3:00 a.m. EDT to August 13 at 3:00 a.m. EDT. Players who are interested can sign up for the beta here. The sign ups only require an e-mail address plus your region, which shows that on launch, the game will be available in North America, Europe, Korea and Japan. The beta testing announcement also came with a trailer, which you can watch below.
In addition to the beta being available to all PlayStation 4 players, those who choose to sign up will receive a very special exclusive gift: a Sky Hawk pet, which allows its owners to automatically loot items, increase the Knowledge Gain Chance, and increase the chances of finding rare monsters.
Gameplay-wise, Black Desert utilizes a fast-paced, combo-oriented combat system in which you chain skills together. The world of Black Desert is also quite expansive, featuring a huge open area to explore – from the seaside towns of Velia and Olvia, to the sprawling expanse of Calpheon and the deserts of Valencia. It also offers life skills, known as professions in other MMOs, like fishing, trading, hunting, crafting, and more.
If you’re set on buying Black Desert for the PlayStation 4, there are three editions now available for pre-order. Each edition also comes with its own set of bonuses, like Value Packages, Pearls, and pets. The Standard Edition features an in-game title and 3x Elion’s Tear as pre-order bonuses; the Deluxe Edition features an in-game title, 48 hours early access to the game, a Shepherd exclusive pet and 5x Elion’s Tear; and the Ultimate Edition features an in-game title, 48 hours early access to the game, a Tier 2 Fogan Monster Pet, a Shudad Outfit Set and 10x Elion’s Tear.
