The highly anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War just concluded its beta testing a few days ago and Sony has some exciting news for the PlayStation fan base. PlayStation players are going to receive a new timed exclusive Zombies game mode called Zombies Onslaught, which is not related to the main Zombies storyline. Unfortunately, PC and Xbox players have to wait until November 2021 to be able to play the Zombies Onslaught game mode.
Zombies Onslaught is a two-player co-op game mode with custom loadouts. This is pretty similar to Modern Warfare 3’s survival mode, but with Zombies. The survival mode will take place on undead versions of the Multiplayer maps with an endless number of Zombies. Players have one simple goal, which is to survive.
Each game of Onslaught begins in a confined space as players discover a Dark Aether Orb, a special device that protects players from getting damaged by Dark Aether energy. As players kill a certain number of zombies, the Dark Aether orb will gradually gain more power, making the zombies much harder to counter. Be prepared to change strategies on how to kill the zombies, because the orb will move around the map, forcing players to follow it. Zombies Onslaught will have various types of zombies such as elite zombies, ordinary zombies, and a strong version of zombies. More details about the zombies and Onslaught will be released with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
“By achieving a specific rank, you will unlock useful rewards for use across Zombies and Multiplayer. Each season, new maps and rewards will be introduced for PS4 and PS5 players,” Activision’s James Mattone said in a PlayStation blog post. To rank up faster, players will have to target the stronger elite zombies for more points. This will help players receive either a Bronze, Silver, or Gold ranking depending on the number of elites they have defeated.
