A new patch has just dropped for Call of Duty: Warzone and although nothing much has changed, it did nerf the MG 82 - a light machine gun so powerful that it is the most dominant weapon in the current meta.

There are five new weapons introduced in Season 4. You have the C58 Assault Rifle, Nail Gun (BOCW), Mace, OTs 9 submachine gun, and MG 82 LMG. Apparently, the last one is quite viable in its current state. It seems it has retained its viability at long range, even though the devs have made certain changes to the weapon types in the game.

The Developers Step In

Developer Raven Software believes that the MG 82 is just too powerful, especially in Verdansk. So, the June 22 patch nerfed it. Here are the changes applied to the weapon:

  • Maximum damage decreased from 30 to 29
  • Minimum damage decreased from 28 to 27
  • Headshot multiplier decreased from 1.3 to 1.2
  • Upper chest multiplier decreased from 1.1 to 1
  • Extremities multiplier decreased from 1 to 0.9
  • Vertical and horizontal recoils have been increased

Despite the changes seeming too harsh at first glance, the developers said that the MG 82 is still usable. But the community will be the judge of that.

Aside from the MG 82, the devs are also looking at the Nail Gun (BOCW). No adjustments have been made, yet the developers express their plan to change some things, such as adding a bullet (or nail) more to kill your enemy, for example. The idea is to make the weapon more effective at close range similar to shotguns, and that its effectiveness should wane when the enemy is far away from you.

Some bug fixes were implemented including the notable fix for the Salt Mine door, which was killing players instantly upon close contact. Here is the rundown:

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed an issue that was causing some players to have to restart the game to unlock a gifted Battle Pass
  • Fixed an issue causing tier skips to not apply properly when receiving a gifted Battle Pass Bundle
  • Fixed a locked control room door in Salt Mine that was killing Players instantly upon contact
  • Fixed an issue causing players to lose control of their Operator after walking through a Red Door if another Player had previously died while going through it
  • Fixed an issue where using some QBZ-83 (BOCW) Blueprints would cause players to crash

So, what do you think about the changes to the MG 82? Do you think that it was nerfed heavily or the changes are somewhat expected given its current viability?
