On Saturday, we reported a new artwork for Call Of Duty's 2017 title had leaked ahead of its official reveal, complete with detailed promotional artwork that provides further evidence to suggest the new shooter from Sledgehammer Games will take place in World War 2. Four distinct pieces of cover art were revealed last week. But this week, another image has surfaced, featuring a line of text that could very well be the title of the new game – "Stronghold."
The latest uncropped version of the Call of Duty WWII cover art was shared by redditor BullshitAnswer, via CoD blog Charlie Intel. Check out the image below:
The top reads "Stronghold Steelbook," no doubt a Collector's Edition of this year's game. What's more, a caption at the bottom reads "color texture reference," which also suggests the team's designers are working on different artwork and uses of colors for the title.
Previously, we noted the franchise deliberately channeled a faded, 1940s aesthetic for the return to its WWII roots, complete with glassic guns like the M1 Garand and depictions of D-Day. We still don't know a lot about the new game, but we definitely expect Activision to make an announcement soon, which is usually between the April-May timeframe for Call of Duty titles.
What do you think about this Call Of Duty 2017 leak? Are you excited for a new World War II shooter? Stay tuned as we expect to learn more about the upcoming Call Of Duty title in the months ahead.
