The head of the Krakow Studio for CD Projekt Red, John Mamais, recently talked about the ability to craft in Cyberpunk 2077. It holds true that crafting is not necessarily a revelation in an RPG game. However, for the players of the upcoming title, they will reportedly have the ability to craft all manner of equipment, items, weapons, and even perform some cybernetic upgrades.
Cyberpunk 2077 is set in a future setting where humans are capable of performing cybernetic enhancements. As such, crafting better body parts has always been an interesting topic. Interestingly, installing different cybernetic enhancements in the game is possible and allows players to gain a wide range of abilities and upgrades.
Mamais said in an interview with PowerUp! that these upgrades include double jumping, walking silently, and gaining tougher skin. Players can even breath underwater just by modifying their character’s body parts. Apparently, according to Mamais, there are lots of abilities in the game that players can unlock once they start upgrading their body.
In most Cyberpunk 2077 trailers, CD Projekt Red has been showing off the time-dilation feature of the game. This is yet another function that cybernetic enhancements offer. This ability even got more exciting when Mamais said that players can “effectively change every part” of their body, including legs, skin, arms, respiratory system, and more.
“The way it’s going to work is you’ll have this base set of attributes like any RPG that you’re leveling up as you get experience points. There are specific sets of skills attached to these attributes that you can also level up. But they’re restricted by the level of the main attributes," Mamais said in the interview. “Then in the skill trees there are leveled skills you can apply perks to. Perks will have statistical effects and beyond. It’s really complex and you can develop and build your character and it’s not limited to a class. You can level up your handgun skills and you can level up your stealth ability and everything you change effects the way you play.”
Cyberpunk 2077 will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC come April 16, 2020.
