Earlier this year, the studio behind Cyberpunk 2077 revealed that The Witcher 3 would soon arrive on the Switch. Of course, it is not a surprise considering the fact that many developers and publishers have started bringing their titles to Nintendo's latest console. However, the fact remains that the franchise has long been held as one of the more graphically-demanding video games of this generation.
The Witcher 3, in particular, is known for its incredible graphics. Bringing the game to the Switch was not that easy since the hardware is underpowered when compared to consoles like PS4 and Xbox One. CD Projekt Red had to tweak the game’s graphics in a way to allow for The Witcher 3 to run smoothly on the hardware.
The Witcher 3 is already on the Switch, though. And considering this narrative, there is no doubt that fans have already started to wonder if Cyberpunk 2077 will also make a surprise appearance on the hybrid console as well. Unfortunately, in an interview, CD Projekt Red’s John Mamais did not leave a lot of hope for fans to cling on.
“Who would have through a game like The Witcher 3 would be possible on Switch, so who knows?” Mamais said. “I guess we’ll see, if we decide to put [Cyberpunk 2077] on the Switch, if we can do it. Probably not.”
So, as far as Cyberpunk 2077 is concerned, this might really be a punch to the moon. Sure, CD Projekt Red will definitely work its magic again and try to figure out a way to bring the game to the platform. While Mamais did not necessarily deny the possibility of bringing Cyberpunk 2077 to the Switch, it is clear that it is not CD Projekt Red’s priority right now. That is why his statement does not really offer much hope, so if you were expecting the game to arrive sooner than expected, then you will be disappointed. For now, the studio is only keen on bringing the game to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The highly anticipated title is due to launch on April 16, 2020.
