The Nordic Game Awards 2020 named Control as the Nordic Game of the Year. In a press release, the judges said that while not considered as groundbreaking, the game offered a unique atmosphere that manages to draw in players. Control managed to beat four other games including Baba is You, LEGO Builder’s Journey, Mosaic, and Sayonara Wildhearts.
Control also won Best Technology over nominees Deep Rock Galactic, Minecraft Earth, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, and Trailmakers. Control was chosen because of the way it “amplifies the atmosphere of the game world while simultaneously adding depth and richness to the gameplay.”
