We never expected to see the 20 year old competitive FPS franchise Counter Strike moving away from generic character skins. However, the upcoming Operation Shattered Web adds all new characters to CS:GO, which the developers are calling Agents.
While announcing the update on a microsite, Valve stated, “For the first time in CS:GO, unlock all-new T and CT-sided characters equippable on any map.” The developer also added, “All-new CT Operators and T Agents are available as mission progress rewards. Complete missions and earn Stars to unlock them and equip them for deployment. Or equip the default Local Agent or Operator to use the pre-existing map-based characters.”
The new characters and skins can be equipped after unlocking them. Valve stated that there are a total of 22 of these skins, which are described as “Superior Agent” and “Exceptional Agent” to draw a differentiation in tiers. The highest tier agents are called “Master Agents”. These agents also come with special animation and voice lines, which might play during post-match celebrations.
It’s been two years since CS: GO released a new operation. This year’s operation, Shattered Web, is priced at $15, which a big jump from the $6 that operations Hydra (2017) and Wildfire (2016) were available for. The previous two operations mostly introduced two new maps and game modes to the game. The same is done with Operation Shattered Web, which introduces the Studio, Lunacy, and Jungle maps, new weapon skins, cosmetic graffiti, and stickers.
