As Cyberpunk 2077 nears its launch, fans have been hyped to experience what CD Projekt Red has to offer with their new IP. However, in a recent interview with investors, the developer shared details on microtransactions in the multiplayer part of the game. As soon as the internet learned about this, the community took to Twitter to criticize CD Projekt Red.
Disappointed fans referred back to the developer's previous Twitter post and interviews, where the company stated Cyberpunk 2077 will have no microtransactions at all. Some fans were so disappointed with the news that they no longer wanted to buy the game. The main confusion surrounding the topic is that a majority of the fanbase isn't aware that Cyberpunk 2077's multiplayer is a separate project from the main single-player game. The multiplayer side is expected to launch in 2022.
As the fanbase went crazy on Twitter, the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account stepped up to solve the confusion by reiterating that Cyberpunk 2077's single-player mode will have no microtransactions, and the microtransactions in the multiplayer game will have no damaging effects on the gameplay.
Nevertheless, some fans are now disappointed to know that Cyberpunk 2077, when it releases in November, will have no multiplayer. CD Projekt Red should have made this distinction clear early on, which would have prevented the disappointment among fans.
Also, since Cyberpunk 2077 has a lot going for it like the inclusion of Keanu Reeves, RTX ray tracing features, and Life-Paths, that the multiplayer wasn't even brought to the attention of fans. Now it has been made clear that Cyberpunk 2077 will have a separate multiplayer game featuring microtransactions.
Cyberpunk 2077 is launching on November 19 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia. The game will also release on PS5 and Xbox Series X later. Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer is not expected to launch until 2022.
