It looks like THQ Nordic's colorful platformer, de Blob 2, is slated to make its way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, if a new listing on GameFly's official site is to be believed.
It's a good time to hop on the de Blob bandwagon, especially if you missed the original game during when it launched back on iOS in 2008. de Blob is already available to purchase on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, so of course it makes sense that the sequel should follow suit, even if there hasn’t been any sort of official announcement yet.
The original game follows Blob on his quest to rescue the colorful Chroma City from the I.N.K.T. Corporation, an evil entity that believes color is a crime, all the while using acrobatic abilities to bounce and smash through enemies and restore the colors. The world may be black and white, but Blob’s attacks and ideology certainly isn’t. You’ll work to free the trapped citizens and take the city back on your own terms.
The sequel picks up right after the end of the first game, as the I.N.K.T. Corporation seeks to drain color from the entire world. Once again, Blob will take the fight to I.N.K.T. so the world can rejoice in its colorful glory once more.
The first de Blob was released in April on PC, then the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions soon followed. Coincidentally, those console versions were also leaked on GameFly before they came to fruition. The latest listings for de Blob 2 seem particularly prophetic, especially in this situation.
It’s a bit strange to see new versions of a game that released six years ago with a particularly low amount of fanfare, but de Blob 2 certainly has what it takes to be a decent sequel. de Blob 2 would work quite well on the Switch, so it’s actually surprising that won’t make its way to Nintendo’s ubiquitous console/handheld hybrid. With the right kind of tweaks and added Joy-Con support, it could become a premier title for the system.
