A new update for Dead by Daylight is now available on the public test build. Patch 6.2.0 PTB introduces Albert Wesker, also known as The Mastermind.
New Killer
Those who have played the old Resident Evil games will know who Albert Wesker is. He was a high-ranking official in the infamous Umbrella Corporation, and he wanted to introduce Uroboros into the world.
Uroboros is a biological weapon that purportedly eliminates the weak, leaving only the strong. Believing that he’s the perfect test subject, Wesker exposed himself to Uroborus, which led him to evolve in horrific ways.
The Mastermind, as Wesker is called in Dead by Daylight, has personal perks that make him a fearsome killer. The first is called Superior Anatomy and is activated whenever a survivor performs a fast vault within eight meters of Wesker. Once active, Wesker’s vaulting speed is increased by 30%/35%/40% after he vaults a window.
His second perk is known as Awakened Awareness; whenever he carries a survivor, Wesker sees the aura of the other survivors within 16/18/20 meters from his position. What’s more, the auras linger two seconds after he stops carrying the survivor.
Wesker’s final perk, Terminus, activates when the exit gates are powered up. All injured, downed, or hooked survivors are inflicted with the broken status effect. The debuff stays with the affected survivors for an additional 20/25/30 seconds after the exit gates are open.
New Streamer Options
The developers added new features in Patch 6.2.0 that aim to reduce the targeting and harassment of players who stream Dead by Daylight. These features are:
- Anonymous Mode
- Replaces your account name with your selected character's name for other players. Players in your group will still see your account name.
- Hide Your Name
- Replaces your own name with your selected character's name on your own screen. Elsewhere in the menus, your account name will appear as "You" and be hidden in your Friend List.
- Hide Other Player Names
- Replaces other player names with their selected character's name.
- Hidden Matchmaking Delay
- Adds a short, random delay when entering the matchmaking queue to prevent targeted in-game harassment.
Aside from the new streamer options, the HUD connection indicators received improvements as well. Ping is now represented by a vertical bar icon, while packet loss is depicted by a double-diamond icon. Additionally, the yellow ping indicator means that the current ping is over 100ms and the red color indicates over 200ms.
