Deathloop announced that it’s now accepting pre-orders for both the PlayStation 5 and the PC. For now, pre-orders are only available through the Bethesda.net Launcher on PC, though pre-orders for Steam are set to be offered any time soon. Like with many games these days, there’s going to be a Standard Edition and a Deluxe Edition of Deathloop.
The Standard Edition offers only the base Deathloop game. The Deluxe Edition, meanwhile, comes with the base game along with:
- Unique Weapon: Transtar Trencher (PS5 Exclusive)
- Unique Weapon: Eat The Rich Tribunal
- Unique Weapon: .44 Karat Fourpounder
- Character Skin: "Party Crasher" Colt
- Character Skin: "Sharp Shooter" Julianna
- Original Game Soundtrack Selections
- Two Trinkets (equippable buffs)
Regardless of whether players buy the Standard of Deluxe Editions, they get these pre-order bonuses:
- Unique Weapon: Royal Protector Machete (PS5 Exclusive)
- Character Skin: "Storm Rider" Colt
- One Trinket (equippable buff)
So what’s Deathloop all about? For starters Deathloop is developed by Arkane Lyon, the same team that’s behind the Dishonored series. Deathloop focuses on Colt, who’s not only trapped on the island of Blackreef, but also stuck in what appears to be a timeloop. This has resulted in Colt reliving the exact same deadly day over and over again. The good news is that he has a chance to end the cycle and find a way off the island, especially with his extraordinary abilities and pretty devastating weapons.
To make all of these happen, Colt needs to take out eight key targets that are scattered across Blackreef. The catch is he needs to do all of this before the day ends, otherwise the loop resets. There’s also another hurdle as Colt needs to avoid Julianna, whose main goal is to make sure that the loop is not interrupted.
In Deathloop, players need to learn from each cycle by gathering intel, finding new weapons and abilities, and of course, trying out new paths. Those feeling a bit mean can take on the role of Julianna and invade the campaign of another player.
Deathloop was first revealed during E3 2019 and then further showcased at Sony’s PlayStation 5 event back in June. Initially, it was announced that the game was to be released in late 2020, but was delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. Deathloop is now set to be released for the PC and PlayStation 5 on May 21, 2021.
