You can add one more game to the long list of delayed games in 2020. Arkane Studios' upcoming game Deathloop has now been delayed to Q2 2021. The game was initially supposed to launch at the end of 2020, however, the developers need more time to deliver the best version they can.

The announcement was made via the official Deathloop Twitter account. The reason for the delay is what you would expect. The on-going pandemic has hindered development. Arkane is currently working from home and that, unfortunately, created some hurdles in the game’s development cycle.

“Our ambition for Deathloop is to deliver a signature Arkane game that takes you to never-before-seen places in a stylish new world. At the same time, the health and safety of everyone at Arkan Lyon remains our top priority,” the official announcement reads. “As we’ve adjusted to work-from-home, we found that delivering this new and exciting experience, at the polish and quality level that defines both an Arkane game and a true next-gen experience, is taking longer than normal.”

As mentioned above, Deathloop will now launch in Q2 of 2021. The specific new launch date is still not confirmed, though. We do know that it will only launch for PS5 and PC, as Bethesda has a timed console exclusivity deal with Sony. Deathloop should release on other platforms after the exclusivity period is over.

Deathloop is a first-person multiplayer-focused game, however, you can play solo if you want. The actual gameplay was shown during the PlayStation 5 Event held in June. Check out the trailer above for a look at all the stylish action.

I am personally hyped for Deathloop. Arkane Studios is known for making top-tier games. Both of their Dishonored games and Prey (2017) received a positive reception from fans and critics.
