It’s been a big week for the Destiny community. And E3 2017 hasn’t even officially started yet.
We got another look at Destiny 2 this week, courtesy of Sony’s annual PlayStation Live event, along with new information on Bungie’s beta plans. And we finally found out when the highly anticipated PC port of Destiny 2 will be available for download on Battle.net.
First up was a new trailer for Bungie’s next shared-world shooter. The new clip, titled “Our Darkest Hour” shows the Cabal’s Red Legion storming the Tower and gives the Destiny 2 community a better understanding of Ghaul’s anger at humanity. The new footage also provides early looks at a plethora of firearms from the upcoming shooter, including several new miniguns that players will be able to outfit their Guardians with when Destiny 2 hits PC and consoles. But the fun didn’t stop there. Shortly after Sony’s annual E3 presser concluded, Bungie used Twitter to confirm start/end dates for this summer’s Destiny 2 beta.
Here are all the dates you need to know:
July 18 - PS4 Pre-Order Beta begins
July 19 - Xbox One Pre-Order Beta begins
July 21 - Open Beta on PS4 and Xbox One
July 23 - Console Betas End
Late August - PC Beta
Beta dates weren’t the only news to follow Destiny 2 ’s appearance on the Sony stage. Bungie also elected to use social media to confirm the launch date for the upcoming Destiny sequel, confirming the shared-world shooter will descend upon Battle.net in late October. We don’t know exactly when to expect the PC beta, and some will undoubtedly lament the six-week gap between the game’s PC and console debuts, but at least we finally have a launch timeline.
For an early look at Destiny 2, take a few minutes to review the game’s E3 2017 trailer and/or the gameplay premiere that aired on Twitch last month. Then head down to the comments and let us know what you’re hoping to see in Destiny 2 when the game debuts this fall.
Destiny 2 is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game hits consoles on Sept. 6. The PC port will come to Battle.net on Oct. 24.
