We finally get to hear something from The Division 2. The development team first gave an update on what happened in 2020. Then, they gave a preview of what everyone can expect for 2021.
A Look Back
The dev team revealed in a post that they were happy with the results of 2020, despite finding a way to adapt to the new normal. For example, the franchise officially reached more than 40 million unique players, a new milestone.
Besides, the release of the Warlords of New York expansion back in March 2020 led to what was the highest monthly active users for the game. This was then maintained throughout the year. Other interesting stats for 2020 included:
- Agent Armor got destroyed 11 billion times.
- 20 billion items looted.
- 937 million squad members revived.
- One Agent has revived more than 27,000 agents.
- 109 billion NPCs killed.
- 156 billion headshots.
- 97 million floors completed in The Summit since Title Update 11.
Moving Forward
The team reminded everyone that they have started working on new content for the game. So what can players expect? For the upcoming major update, a new game mode will be introduced along with new ways for players to progress their agent. Everyone needs to remember though that everything is still in the early stages, and it means there are still some months left before it’s released. That said, the next major update is set to roll out sometime in late 2021.
While waiting for the update to arrive, players can expect a rerun of previous seasons that were released during Year 2. It means that Season 5 is a rerun of Season 1, and this should be good news for new players. For old players, this is a chance to collect items they may have missed the first time around. There’s also going to be a new Apparel Event and minor Title Updates.
