The group stage for Bali Major is done. The remaining 12 Dota 2 teams are now in the final phases with the playoffs set to begin tomorrow.
The teams in the Upper Bracket are:
- Team Liquid vs. PSG.LGD
- BetBoom Team vs. Tundra Esports
- beastcoast vs. Gaimin Gladiators
- Quest Esports vs. Team Aster
Meanwhile, waiting in the lower bracket are:
- Team Spirit vs. (Loser of Team Liquid vs. PSG.LGD)
- Azure Ray (Loser of BetBoom Team vs. Tundra Esports)
- Shopify Rebellion (Loser of beastcoast vs. Gaimin Gladiators)
- 9Pandas (Loser of Quest Esports vs. Team Aster)
Road to TI
With this being the last major before The International, there are some rather interesting observations in the ongoing tournament. The first round of matches for the playoffs are crucial PSG.LGD, beastcoast, and BetBoom Team. If they win in their respective matches, they are guaranteed in the top eight and DPC points. This means a higher chance to get that slot for this year's TI.
Shopify is Down
It's also interesting to see that after two majors being placed in the upper bracket, Shopify Rebellion now starts the next round in the lower bracket. Even if they are eliminated from the tournament, it won't be that "heartbreaking" for them since their excellent performance during the three tours got them enough points to earn a spot for TI.
What Happened in the SEA Scene?
It's also surprising to learn that no team from SEA made it to the playoffs. The three teams from this region that participated and have now been eliminated are Blacklist International, Execration, and Bleed Esports.
Blacklist and Bleed lost in their respective tiebreakers. While in the past two majors, it had been Talon Esports. However, the team failed to reach the top three for Tour 3.
Can Gaimin Go GG?
Finally, a lot of fans are looking forward to the playoffs to see if Gaimin Gladiators has what it takes to have an almost "perfect year." The team has been winning all tournaments for the entire year, and if they do win this one, the only thing left is conquering The International.
