Two new fighters have been revealed for Dragon Ball FighterZ in the latest issue of V-Jump. Both characters are fan-favorites from way back, and pretty obvious inclusions if you’re making a Dragon Ball Z game. The new characters are everyone’s favorite human and Namekian: Krillin and Piccolo!
This information comes by way of Gematsu. According to the site, Krillin will be able to use his most famous attack, the Destructo Disc. The attack cannot be blocked, and holding down the button to use the Destructo Disc will make the attack stronger. Unfortunately, Gematsu didn’t mention anything about Piccolo’s attacks, but it’s a safe bet his famous Special Beam Cannon will make an appearance.
Gematsu also reports that V-Jump has confirmed a new online game mode for Dragon Ball FighterZ. The new mode will see players controlling chibi versions of characters, and is said to be similar to the online mode for Guilty Gear Xrd for those familiar with that game.
This means the total known roster for Dragon Ball FighterZ is Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Trunks, Cell, Frieza, Majin Buu, Krillin and Piccolo. That’s only nine fighters, so more are sure to be announced in the coming weeks. As for who is coming, there’s a notable lack of Android characters that would fit in with the Frieza, Trunks and Cell storylines. It would also be cool to see other characters like Master Roshi and Yajirobe added for fun.
In case you missed it, there was also a new trailer for Dragon Ball FighterZ released recently showing off Trunks. Additionally, a closed beta has been announced for the PS4 and Xbox One, and is set to begin on July 26. As of right now, it doesn’t seem like there will be a beta coming for PC gamers.
Dragon Ball FighterZ will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC in early 2018.
