A new spin-off from the Dragon Quest series is launching worldwide this December 9 on Nintendo Switch. Dragon Quest Treasures has players explore the childhood escapades of Erik and Mia, siblings who first appeared in the game Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.
In the game, players take control of Erik and Mia as they explore a treasure hunter’s paradise that offers boundless adventure. Loots are ripe for the picking in the treacherous places. That means players need to recruit some monsters and use their treasure-hunting abilities. Let these creatures help race across open fields, scale cliffs in one leap, and glide across wide-open chasms. These same monsters can also help players in their battles against rival treasure hunters.
By collecting treasure, players can increase their vault value. This in turn allows them to expand their base and increase their brigade of friendly monsters.
The Dragon Quest franchise is composed of RPGs created by Yuji Horii. The series is loved by fans not only in Japan but also across the world. The first Dragon Quest game came out in Japan in 1986. It was released in the US in 1989 and titled Dragon Warrior.
Since the initial release, more than 84 million units were shipped worldwide, having 11 main series titles. There are also spin-off games and other media like films, anime, novels, manga, and merchandise. Dragon Quest holds different Guinness World Records, including the “Longest-Running Japanese RPG Series.” The series is celebrating its 36th anniversary this year.
In addition to Creator and Game Designer Yuji Horii, the team behind this legendary series also has Akira Toriyama (creator of Dragon Ball) and composer Koichi Sugiyama. The team has long been enchanting new and longtime players alike, especially with how each new entry in the series offers a good mix of charming visuals, enthralling storylines, and captivating music.
The latest installment is Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of An Elusive Age, released worldwide in 2018 on PlayStation 4 and PC. An enhanced version called Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition was launched on Nintendo Switch in 2019.
