Earlier today, Epic Games announced that it is introducing an early version of achievements for games on the Epic Games Store. The announcement was made on the company's official Twitter account and Epic Games has advised that the feature will begin rolling out for a selection of games at the moment before becoming a full-fledged feature. The achievements functionality seems like open testing that might not be available to all users. However, the announcement itself indicates that gamers should start seeing achievements for all games soon.
It is interesting to see that Epic Games Store has been making some important progress. However, not many users have been responding positively to the tweet. Some users are mocking Epic Games for taking such a long time to implement a key feature.
Epic Games had promised the Achievements functionality well over a year ago. It seems like we'll have to wait a bit more before it becomes a full-fledged feature. Even though Epic Games mentioned that achievements will start to show up in certain games, at the moment only Ark: Survival Evolved seems to have the feature up and running. It is also reported that the Achievements system in Epic Games Store will resemble Sony's Trophy system.
Speaking of Epic Games Store, the digital storefront for games is currently giving away three new games -- Barony, 20XX, and Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP.
Epic has already given away some big hitters including GTA V and Civilization 6.
Additionally, the Epic Games Store Summer Sale is currently live, but ends on August 6. If you've got some extra cash lying around, you can grab Remedy Entertainment's Control or Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order at a 50% discount. There are also varying discounts on different editions of Red Dead Redemption 2.
So, what do you think about Achievements finally making it to Epic Games Store? Do you think that this functionality will give Epic Games Store an edge over its competitors? Let us know your thoughts below.
