GOG Galaxy 2.0 Gets Official Epic Games Store Integration, No Need For Community Add-Ons

We have too many game launchers, there is no argument about that. For the last few years, we have had to download multiple game launchers if we want to play games from different publishers. Ubisoft has Uplay, Rockstar has the Rockstar Games Launcher and Activision Blizzard has Battle.net, and not to forget Steam, Origin, Epic Games Store, Bethesda Launcher and Windows Store. I am sure I am forgetting even more launchers here as well.

These are too many and they take up a lot of space in the taskbar and desktop. Also, the fact that we can’t access all our games in one place really puts some salt in our wounds. That might change soon, as CD Projekt Red has been developing GOG Galaxy 2.0. This update to GOG Galaxy aims to bring all the launchers together. Previously, only Xbox Live had official support for Galaxy 2.0, however, other supported launchers could be integrated with community add-ons.

Thankfully, now you won’t have to use these add-ons for at least one game store. Epic Games Launcher is officially integrated with Galaxy 2.0. If other companies follow suit then 2.0 could become a revolutionary piece of software. Galaxy 2.0 lets you access all the games you own from one place. You can check out leaderboards, play history, and your friend’s online status. More features are expected in the future.

"We’re excited that Epic Games Store integration has come to GOG Galaxy 2.0," General Manager of the Epic Games Store, Steve Allison said. "It’s an important step towards breaking down walls between PC stores, as it enables a unified experience for players to manage their PC games library independent of where their games were purchased."

You can try out Galaxy 2.0 right now if you haven’t already. You can download the software from the official site.

So what do you think? Is your PC also bloated with all these game launchers? Have you ever been annoyed by using different launchers for different games? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
