Much like other studios, Epic Games is able to make large amounts of cash from Fortnite’s character skins. However, if you did not know yet, there is a secondary market that is all about selling rare ones for a premium price. Interestingly, the most valuable skin to date, called the Ghoul Trooper, has been confirmed to make its way to the game again.
The developer of the popular battle royale game revealed that it will bring back the Ghoul Trooper skin. The announcement, which was made via the official Fortnite Twitter account, comes after the studio teased the news earlier.
Data miners who dug into the game files of the update from earlier in the month found out that the rare cosmetic item would return. While it was not revealed at that time, they said that it should be during the game’s Halloween-themed event.
Skins, which are also called outfits in Fortnite, are basically in-game cosmetics that players can purchase or obtain by completing challenges. They can range in price from 1,000-2,000 V-Bucks, the in-game currency, which translates to $10-$20. Interestingly, the studio loves to put one or two outfits on sale for 24 hours, and they rotate through to the store every so often. Well, most of them do, at least.
Some of the oldest skins, or also known as OG skins, have been purposely kept out of the store by the company. The Ghoul Trooper, in particular, was first available for Fortnite’s Halloween event back in 2017. Ever since then, it has yet to find its way to the store until now. Considering how rare these items are, they continue to be a hot commodity among players. In fact, on eBay, a recent auction for the skin went for at least $1,000.
Epic already updated the Fortnite Item Shop with the Ghoul Trooper skin. Players should have 24 hours to buy it before it disappears for who knows how long.
