Silent Hill is back, or at least it will be in a couple of years. Konami, the owner of the legendary IP, held a showcase event yesterday that unveiled many upcoming projects. Several previously rumored games were confirmed and much more.
Here is everything present at the event:
Silent Hill 2 (Remake)
Arguably the best game in the series is making a comeback. A full-fledged remake of Silent Hill 2 is currently being developed by Bloober Team SA, the creator of The Medium and Blair Witch. The game will use Unreal Engine 5 to be released initially for PS5 and PC.
Sony has a 12-month console exclusivity deal with Konami, meaning there is a good chance it will also be ported to other consoles. As of right now, no release date has been provided. However, the game’s Steam page is already up and running.
Silent Hill: Townfall
Another game called Silent Hill: Townfall is currently in the works. Not much is known about the spin-off title, except that it is being handled by NoCode Studios, the developer behind Observation and Stories Untold.
Townfall will be published by acclaimed publisher Annapurna Interactive. No information either about its release window or target platforms has been revealed.
New Movie: Return to Silent Hill
If you liked Christophe Gans’ 2006 Silent Hill movie, then you’ll be pleased to know his next project. The director is currently working on a new film called Return to Silent Hill.
Gans revealed that the movie will feature the iconic Pyramid Head. As of right now, casting and filming aren’t completed, so don’t expect it to be out anytime soon.
Silent Hill: Ascension
Silent Hill: Ascension is a spin-off project being developed by multiple studios, including Bad Robot Productions and Behavior Interactive. The trailer claims that Ascension is a “new interactive video streaming experience for the series.” We don’t know what that means but thankfully, we won’t have to wait long.
Silent Hill: Ascension is planned for 2023, which means more information should be revealed soon.
Silent Hill f
Last but not the least, Konami revealed Silent Hill f, the next mainline game in the series. It takes place in 1960s Japan and features an original story. The game is being written by Ryūkishi07 — an acclaimed Japanese visual novel writer.
