Fallout is finally getting an official board game. Called Fallout: Wasteland Warfare, the latest game from Modiphius will feature a ton of high-quality miniatures of iconic Fallout characters and monsters.
Fallout: Wasteland Warfare takes heavy inspiration from Fallout 4. Players complete missions to earn Caps that can then be spent on improving weapons, perks and more. There are a number of different ways to play Fallout: Wasteland Warfare, including a narrative campaign arc, random one-off missions, pvp, tournament mode, solo play with a built-in AI and co-op play.
Additionally, extra “Organized Play packs” will be available at launch. These packs are probably additional add-on missions you and your friends can play. Think of them like board game DLC.
Many characters and locations from Fallout: Wasteland Warfare will be familiar to any fan of Fallout 4. Expect to explore the Red Rocket, Sanctuary Hills and more while battling off Super Mutants, Raiders and even the dreaded Deathclaw.
Unfortunately, that’s all we really know so far. We don’t know how players perform attacks or explore or anything. The safe bet is that plenty of dice will be involved. I’m expecting Fallout: Wasteland Warfare to be similar to the Gears of War board game, but with more RPG elements and ways to extend play across a number of sessions.
No official release date has been given for Fallout: Wasteland Warfare, but Modiphius is planning on this hitting store shelves sometime this November.
