Update: Oculus just confirmed Farlands and Dreamdeck on its blog.
A redditor by the name of /u/ZeroInformation — who claims to work closely with the three major VR players in software — has been breaking his NDA in the run-up to the Oculus Rift’s arrival on doorsteps America over. /u/ZeroInformation’s latest leak says two undisclosed and exclusive games will be available on the Oculus Rift for free: Farlands and Dreamdeck.
The redditor describes Farlands as a mix between Viva Piñata and Pokemon Snap, with multiple regions, each hosting a multitude of different creatures to feed and that are cute enough to have their picture taken. The interesting thing about Farlands , if what /u/ZeroInformation says is true, is that the world will dynamically change around the player in real time.
This means that environment in Farlands will change on a day-to-day basis. /u/ZeroInformation said that the game does not need an internet connection to work, so the world will probably be specific to each user. Farlands will also be “fully” voice acted, with players leveling up based on the score their pictures receive.
Dreamdeck, the second undisclosed exclusive for the Oculus Rift, is a collectionof all the internal demos like “the dinosaur one, the height one, the paper city and more.”
/u/ZeroInformation said that both titles, supposedly developed by Oculus as first party games, will require 360° positional tracking, and are intended to be used standing up .
Judging from the lack of an oxford comma in /u/ZeroInformation’s comments, it’s likely that they’re a journalist (and not a software developer) under embargo until later today.
However, a user by the name of Desu-chan posted in the freenode #Oculus IRC channel that the free apps available in the Oculus Store include: “ Lucky's Tale, Farlands, Jaunt VR, INVASION!, Henry, Lost, Oculus Dreamdeck , Oculus Video, Oculus 360 Photos, The Body VR , COLOSSE: A Story in Virtual Reality. ”
Desu-chan’s IP address originated from Veliky Novgorod, Russia, so take the confirmation with another grain of salt as well.
