All players are invited to join the celebration of the fifth anniversary of Warhammer: Vermintide 2. It was 2018 when the game was first released and since then has grown to be a beloved title worldwide while continuing to be the home to a truly thriving community. In addition, the game now has more than twice the amount of content it had when it was first launched.
As part of the celebration, Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is free to play from March 8 to March 19. But wait there's more! Those who play the game now can earn triple XP until the event ends on March 19.
A Quiet Drink
There's also the chance for players to earn a new portrait frame and be part of the Ubersreik Five as they go on a quest to have a "Quiet Drink" in this limited-time event. This annual tradition runs from March 8 to March 20.
Players are invited to be part of the festivities by drinking their fill in Helmgart's local tavern. However, upon reaching the place, they find it overrun by ratmen. Players need to traverse the town and find their next drink while doing what they can to clear the infestation at Helmgart.
Patch 4.8.5 was also released for PC and it introduced a handful of localization fixes for Russian players, along with a fix to correct the cheeto-dust-colored Skaven. However, the development team revealed that most of what's in the update was preparing their systems for the anniversary event.
In a statement, Fatshark CEO Martin Wahlund revealed that no one in the studio thought the game would have a lasting impact and continue to be popular even five years later. He added that they’re proud of what they’ve accomplished and are excited for the future. Wahlund ended by saying that part of the game’s success is due to the support from players.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is a four-player co-op action game set in the Warhammer Fantasy Battles world. It's a sequel to the critically acclaimed Vermintide and is the latest title in a franchise known for its intense and bloody first-person melee combat. In the game, the five heroes have returned and are ready to take on an even greater threat than before: the combined forces of a ruinous Chaos army and the swarming Skaven horde.
