The Flash finally returns from spring break a week from today, and new photos for “The Once and Future Flash” don’t show any light at the end of the tunnel for Iris. Barry watches Joe from afar as he visits Iris’ grave ten years in the future, where he travels to see if he can get any information on how to stop Savitar.
In addition to older versions of the team, such as Cisco, Barry encounters old foes Mirror Master and The Top. In this future timeline, older Barry looks like he’s been stuck on an island for five years. He’s in shambles and clearly still hasn’t gotten over the death of Iris.

There’s no sign of Killer Frost in the photos, who went rogue last episode after Julian let her use her powers to heal herself. Barry may also end up with a few clues about how to prevent Caitlin’s personality disorder and help her lose the Killer in Killer Frost.
While we didn’t get a good look in set photos, this disheveled, future version of Barry does have a pretty dope costume, first seen in the episode 19 trailer. The new suit has defining yellow lines, arm bolts, an exposed zipper and a full gold belt. Still waiting to see those yellow boots, though.
Check out the synopsis for “Once and Future Flash” below. The Flash returns Tuesday, April 25 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
Barry (Grant Gustin) travels to the future to find out Savitar’s still unknown identity in the hopes of saving Iris (Candice Patton). Upon his arrival in 2024, Barry encounters future versions of his Team Flash friends, who, following the death of Iris, have become very different people, profoundly impacted by their showdown with Savitar. It will be up to Barry to infuse a sense of hope back into the team, as he proves to be hero his future friends have been waiting for. Meanwhile, back in 2017, the hunt for Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) continues. Tom Cavanagh directed the episode written by Carina Adly MacKenzie.
