The weeklong DCTV Invasion! crossover has been getting a lot of attention, but The Flash and Supergirl musical crossover is still in the works. Executive Producers Greg Berlanti and Todd Helbing teased an original song and dance sequence earlier this year. Speculation for the villain points to Music Meister, and we’re hoping Neil Patrick Harris will reprise his role as the villain he voiced in the musical episode of Batman: The Brave and The Bold.
In addition to the casts of Supergirl and The Flash, there’s one actor from Legends of Tomorrow who Greg Berlanti wants to see in the two episodes: Victor Garber, the Professor Stein half of Firestorm. We’ve already seen Stein take on the role of Hitler’s favorite opera singer in Nazi Germany.
At a party celebrating Arrow ’s 100th episode, ComicBook.com asked Berlanti whether he plans to include Garber in the musical crossover. His answer strongly suggests we can expect to see Martin Stein.
"Oh, I'd be crazy not to," Berlanti said. "He's got one of the best voices. He actually sang for me at an event once, and if I ever get married, I'd have him sing at the wedding."
The Flash and Supergirl have musically-inclined casts. Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist starred on Glee . Jeremy Jordan (Winn on Supergirl ) and Jesse L Martin (Joe West on The Flash ) have performed on Broadway. Keiynan Lonsdale, who plays Kid Flash, is best known as a singer and dancer on the series Dance Academy . He also an aspiring vocalist best known for his covers on YouTube. He released his first single, ‘Higher,’ this year.
The Hashtag Show reports Joss Whedon will direct the musical crossover. He’s already worked with Harris on the musical web series, Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog . Coincidence? If anyone can help the CW pull this off, it’s NPH, and I’d love to see him play a villain in live action.
The Flash and Supergirl musical crossover is expected in latter half of the new season. Arrow, The Flash, Legends and Supergirl crossover is set for December.
