The reports of the Foo Fighters’ death have been greatly exaggerated, but it hasn’t stopped Twitter users from getting upset at the very possibility of the alternative rock breaking up. The controversy all started when whoever is in charge of the Foo Fighters’ Twitter posted a solemnly phrased announcement-about-an-announcement tweet on March 1.
However, after Twitter users took the above tweet and ran it into a rumor, assuming it could only mean the worst, Entertainment Weekly reached out to a representative from the Foo Fighters. This rep wouldn’t comment on the issue, but according to EW , they did state that “any reports about the band breaking up are ‘utterly ridiculous.’”
The New York Post ’s Page 6 section reports something quite different though. A source with knowledge about the band’s inner workings apparently told the Post tension exists between frontman Dave Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins.
“The band is billing it as a ‘break,’ but it’s totally Dave going solo,” an undisclosed source told the New York Post. “And Taylor is pissed about it.”
Whatever it may be, the Foo Fighters announcement is set for today. Keep your eyes posted on the Foo Fighters Twitter account.
