'Frostpunk 2' Resource Guide: How To Get & Use Them

Learn about the different types of resources available in Frostpunk 2. Steam, 11 Bit Studios

You have a lot of things to consider and manage in 11 Bit Studios' dystopian city builder "Frostpunk 2," including various resources you need to expand your society.

The game's core component is arguably managing your resources properly, as failing to do so could result in a quick game over. "Frostpunk 2" builds on the foundations of its predecessor by featuring 13 different types of resources.

Even for long-time fans of the franchise, this could become somewhat overwhelming at some point in the game.

This is even more true for newcomers who may not even know where to start. This guide helps players understand the different resources available in "Frostpunk 2."

Heat

This is arguably one of the more familiar resources in "Frostpunk 2" that fans of the series will encounter.

It is also considered the most important part of the game because it is required to keep your society's people alive amid the new ice age, according to Game Rant.

You need to increase your supply of Heat if you expand your city, as you will get more people who will require this particular resource.

Shelter

Another important resource in "Frostpunk 2" is Shelter, which functions similarly to Heat by keeping your people safe from the cold. You can get more Shelter by building more Housing Districts to coincide with a growing population.

Food

All of you people need Food in order to live, and failing to meet the demand for this resource will result in an increase in hunger. This situation, if left unchecked, can quickly lead to many deaths and even anarchy.

You can increase your Food supply by finding more sources in the Frostlands and by building more food districts within your city.

Materials

This resource is used for the construction of most Districts and buildings within your walls. This means that if you do not have enough Materials to meet the demand for your buildings, Squalor will steadily go up.

You can get Materials by building Extraction Districts on Iron Ore deposits and Frozen Forests, which are found in the Frostlands.

Prefabs

Players use Prefabs in "Frostpunk 2" to create various buildings, hubs, or Districts. You can typically find these types of resources in abandoned deposits in the Frostlands and the outskirts of New London.

Heatstamps

Heatstamps are a form of currency in the game and will be used by your population regularly. A lot of the buildings and districts that you build will require Heatstamps. You also use this resource daily, The Gamer said.

Goods

Goods in "Frostpunk 2" are everyday items that your citizens need to live a relatively happy life amid the dystopian landscape. You can keep Crime down if you are able to meet the demand for Goods.

Coal and Oil

These resources are the fuel that you will need to power your generator, with coal being used at the early stages of the game and oil being used later on. You can gather both of these resources by using Extraction Districts.

Steam Cores

This type of resource is arguably one of the more difficult to find in "Frostpunk 2" and is also one of the most limited. You can get Steam Cores while exploring the Frostlands outside of New London, but only a few at a time.

These are used to build specialized buildings that have some of the best positive effects in the game. These are useful because they will most likely be the turning point for success and failure.

Trust

"Frostpunk 2" uses Trust as the general metric to show players their standing with the game's different factions. If you negotiate with these groups, pass certain laws, and keep your society safe and happy, your Trust meter will be filled.

Frostland Teams

These are the brave individuals of your population who brave the Frostlands and forage into the unknown. The danger of this job is that your Frostland Team can get injured or killed if something goes wrong.

Workforce

To keep your city running and expanding, you need a powerful Workforce to get anything done. This is dependent on your city's population, where the higher the number of people you have, the more workforce you have access to.

Other Tips

You get access to a variety of resources in "Frostpunk 2" that you need to manage properly in order to keep your city afloat. One important thing you should know is how to transfer resources in order to store them properly and use them.

This can be done either by creating a trade route that will send a steady supply of goods or simply using a lump sum transfer of resources. You can create a trade route by linking two sites together.

If you choose to transfer a lump sum of resources instead, you will be able to send a large amount. This is particularly useful if you are in dire need of resources and not necessarily in need of a steady flow of incoming items, according to Shack News.
