GameStop announced more units of the popular SNES classic miniature console will be arriving in stores starting Oct.10. What’s more, the retailer expects to receive regular shipments for the rest of 2017.
In a press release, individual units of the SNES Classic will become available starting Oct. 10, while bundles and standalone units will be available online starting Oct.11. All U.S. stores will start to receive their shipments on the 10th and will have their full allotment by Thursday, Oct. 12, at the latest. ThinkGeek will have standalone units both in store (starting Oct. 10) and online (starting Oct. 11).
The biggest piece of news is that GameStop expects weekly shipments of the SNES Classic to continue throughout 2017. Be sure to check with your local GameStop to make sure they have received their SNES Classic restock before heading on over by going to the store locator.
Ahead of the SNES Classic release on Sept. 29, GameStop announced that they have received more units of the miniature console. This is another step for Nintendo to get back to its fans’ good graces after all the criticism it received overthe scarce inventory for the NES Classic.
Earlier this month, Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime spoke about the SNES Classic and what the company is planning to do to combat the shortages that plagued the first console.
“I’m going to make millions of these units to flow into the marketplace,” Fils-Aimé told the Financial Times . “But what I don't know is what the demand is going to be. And there is a potential that demand is going to outstrip supply.”
Nintendo promised the supply of Mini SNES consoles should exceed the total number of NES Classics shipped in all of 2016.
Regular shipments of the Super NES Classic console will also continue into 2018, though it was originally slated to end after the holiday season. The NES Classic will also return in summer 2018, so those who missed out the first time will get another chance.
The SNES Classic console is available now and contains 21 of some of the greatest video games of the Super Nintendo era of gaming. Are you still looking for a SNES Classic? What do you think of the miniature Nintendo systems? Let us know in the comments section below.
