A new update is launching to Genshin Impact this May 31. Titled “Hidden Dreams in the Depths,” Version 2.7 has players continue their exploration of The Chasm and joined by an unexpected team composed of diverse members. There are also two new playable characters to be introduced.
New Story
Let’s start with the new event “Perilous Trail.” This new Archon Quest story brings players back to The Chasm with rewarding challenges. In this one, players find themselves stranded in Yanfei, Yelan, Arataki Itto, and Kuki Shinobu. Meanwhile, there is danger ahead for the “Vigilant Yaksha” Xiao, who's been doing his own investigation. As the story moves forward, the buried past is eventually revealed to the party.
New Combat Challenge
While going through the story, players get to unlock the new combat challenge dubbed “Realms of Guile and War.” It’s offering a bunch of rewards like the event-exclusive four-star bow Fading Twilight. Overall, there are four unique challenge domains where players need to consider their party setup strategy along with different Stratagem buffs and domain rules to make sure they survive multiple rounds of combat.

A Muddy Event
In addition to what’s mentioned, players can also look forward to the “A Muddy Bizarre Adventure” event. It seems that Hosseini the Sumeru scholar has found what appears to be a dark mud-like substance pouring out of the various caverns and mines in The Chasm.
Players need to clear the mud, weaken the monsters, and finish different tasks like beating monsters within a time limit or escorting a hot air balloon with the Lumenstone Adjuvant.
New Characters
As mentioned, there are two new playable characters in Yelan and Kuki Shinobu. The two join the Traveler in the journey through The Chasm and have their own Story Quest and Hangout Event.
Yelan is a mysterious five-star character having many faces and identities, including being the owner of the Yanshang Teahouse and working as a special intelligence officer of Liyue. She uses a bow as her weapon and is a Hydro DPS character able to use rapid attacks, combined with agile mobility.
Meanwhile, Kuki Shinobu is a reliable and capable four-star character and the Arataki Gang’s deputy leader. She is a support character who uses a sword and can manipulate the Electro element. She deals periodic Electro DMG to nearby enemies while having the ability to consume her own HP to heal other party members.
