It's official: Ghost Recon Breakpoint will launch on October 4, 2019, but it's already available for pre-order right now. Pre-ordering the game will net players some exclusive goodies and benefits, but with four different editions of the game currently available, it can get a little confusing what comes with what. Fortunately, the folks here at Player. One understand your plight, and we've prepared this Edition Guide to help you choose which one is the best for you.
Pre-ordering isn't for everyone, but it's a trend in the gaming industry that isn't going away any time soon, and more often than not, companies make it worth your while to pre-order a game. This time around, Ubisoft is offering up the Sentinel Corps Pack for pre-ordering any edition of the game. The Sentinel Corps Pack includes the Landscape Mk. 2 vehicle, the Sentinel Mk. 3 Heavy Armor Set, and the Valor Assault Rifle.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint is available in four different editions, each with a different price tier and each with its own features and bonuses. There's the Standard Edition, the Gold Edition, the Ultimate Edition, and finally, the physical-release only Collector's Edition of the game. It's worth noting that currently, only the digital editions are available for pre-order, but the physical releases, including the physical-only Collector's Edition, will soon be available in retail stores worldwide.
Note: Because of regional pricing systems on the Epic Games Store, prices shown may not be the same as actual prices in your region.
The Standard Edition features the baseline experience for Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Pre-ordering the Standard Edition gives players guaranteed access to the upcoming closed beta. However, if players want access to additional content and the DLCs planned for Year 1, they either have to purchase the Year 1 Pass separately or purchase the DLCs individually. The Standard Edition is available on the Epic Games Store for $41.99, or the Ubisoft Store for $56.69.
The Gold Edition has everything included in the Standard Edition (including guaranteed beta access), as well as instant access to the Year 1 Pass. Basically, the Gold Edition is a Standard Edition+Year 1 Pass bundle, but for a little cheaper than if you get both the game and the Year 1 pass separately. Additionally, Gold Edition owners will be able to enjoy three days Early Access to Ghost Recon Breakpoint, and start playing on October 1 instead of October 4. The Year 1 Pass also includes one-week early access to some in-game content in addition to DLC access for Year 1. The Gold Edition is available on the Epic Games Store for $69.99, or the Ubisoft Store for $94.49.
The Ultimate Edition is intended to be the definitive Ghost Recon Breakpoint experience. It includes the base game, the Year 1 Pass, guaranteed beta access if you pre-order, three days Early Access just like with the Gold Edition, and a whole host of exclusive goodies. Ultimate Edition owners have access to an exclusive bonus mission, as well as in-game items including the Trail TX Motorbike, the Spider Buggy, and the Survivor Pack. The Ultimate Edition is available on the Epic Games Store for $76.99, or the Ubisoft Store for $113.39.
The retail-only Collector's Edition of Ghost Recon Breakpoint is intended for the biggest fans of the franchise. Featuring everything that's included in the Ultimate Edition, the Collector's Edition also comes with some exclusive collectible items. These collectibles include an exclusive steelbook case, a soundtrack with select tracks from the game, a confidential file with three litographs, a 24 cm. figurine of Cole D. Walker, the game's antagonist, Walker's dog tags, and a waterproof map of the game world.
Now that you know what each Edition comes with, which Edition is the right one for you? Of course, that's your call, but the one we recommend here at Player. One is the Gold Edition. With the Gold Edition, you can enjoy the base game as much as you want, and when the DLCs come out later this year, you'll be able to enjoy them as well, without shelling out any extra cash.
