Sony really knows how to make an impact. Yesterday, we saw a closer look at the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive game Ghost of Tsushima. The developers released an 18-minute long gameplay video that showed off several aspects of the upcoming samurai game. More information about the combat, exploration, photo mode, and several other aspects of the game was also revealed in the video, which you can watch for yourself below.
The exploration in the game looks impressive. To reach your destination, you will have to follow the air that sends you in the right direction. You can use this feature for both the main mission objectives and custom pointers. Ghost of Tsushima is also filled with interesting encounters and points of interest, such as several shrines where you can pay your respects.
The combat is where things get interesting. There are two different fighting styles, the honorable Samurai or the dishonorable Ghost. In Samurai, you fight face to face, duel your enemies, deflect incoming arrows, and dodge attacks. In Ghost mode, you will take a more stealthy approach. You can use several items to distract your enemies, and divide groups of enemies to kill them one by one. Both fighting styles can be further improved by equipping suitable gear.
You can customize your character both visually and in combat. The clothes that you wear can alter your play style. You can use dye to change the color of your clothes. The game also offers a very extensive Photo Mode, a black and white mode, or Japanese language mode with English subtitles.
You will be able to play Ghost of Tsushima starting on July 17. It was initially supposed to launch on June 26, but was delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. This is the second big title by Sony to release in the next couple of months. The other title is The Last of Us Part 2 which will launch on June 19.
