Golf Story creators Sidebar Games have submitted a patch to Nintendo that will fix a number of bugs, according to a post on the official Twitter account. However, the patch needs to be approved by Nintendo before Sidebar can provide a release date.
The only bug confirmed to be fixed in the update is the frustrating, but hilarious, Tidy Park glitch. This issue happens when players save and quit during a party sequence at the upper class park. Once reloaded, the player character appears incredibly tiny, and cannot interact with anyone or anything. A video of the glitch can be seen below.
Sidebar also confirmed the patch will fix existing save files. This means if this bug happened to you, you shouldn’t have to start over and play all the way through the game again to get back to Tidy Park. After downloading the patch, your game should return to its normal state.
However, those on the Nintendo Switch subreddit have identified numerous bugs while playing Golf Story. These include camera problems, graphics glitches and even game-crashing bugs. Sidebar Games said this patch will fix a number of issues and we’ll know more about specifics when patch notes are released. It’s likely more patches will be needed to address all of the known complaints.
As for when the patch will be available, that’s now up to Nintendo. Sidebar Games has submitted it for approval, and once Nintendo gives the green light Sidebar can push it live. Expect it to be available in the next day or so.
That said, don’t let all this talk of bugs dissuade you from giving Golf Story a try. We did encounter some bugs in our official review, but none of them were major enough to disrupt the enjoyment of playing through the campaign. While the bugs gamers have found certainly are an issue, and do need to be addressed, they aren’t going to affect every player’s experience.
So what do you think? Are you happy to see Sidebar Games fix some of the issues with Golf Story? Is there a bug you’ve encountered that you hope gets fixed as well? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
