On Grey’s Anatomy Season 13, episode 11, which airs at 8 p.m. EST Thursday on ABC, Meredith and Maggie find out that Alex may be facing a thirty years to life sentence for attacking another doctor.
An episode 11 sneak peek shows Meredith and Maggie searching the web for Alex’s case. Once they are able to find the record, Meredith is shocked to see the lengthy sentence that Alex might be facing.
Earlier in the season, Alex surrendered to the district attorney and accepted a plea deal instead of going to trial for his charges. He is charged with attacking Andrew DeLuca, an intern Grey Sloan Memorial hospital.
At the end of Season 12, Alex walked in on DeLuca helping Jo through a difficult time. However, he believed DeLuca was trying to take advantage of her while she was drunk and severely beat him. DeLuca recovered from his injuries, but this did not stop him from filing criminal charges against Alex.
Prior to the attack, Jo had turned down Alex’s marriage proposal for the second time, which caused their argument and led Jo to later get drunk. Eventually, Jo confessed to Alex that she couldn’t marry him because she was already married to a man who was abusive to her.
Viewers found Alex was in jail in episode 10, as Chief Bailey told Jo the situation. Learning the news made her sick. Alex’s fate remains unknown, but clips also show Meredith visiting him in jail.
Will Alex spend the rest of his life in jail? We will find out during Grey's Anatomy Season 13 episode 11, "Jukebox Hero" which is best viewed on television or live online through ABC Live.
Meanwhile, Owen and Amelia are dealing with the deterioration of their short-lived marriage. Dr. Webber and other veteran staff are working together to take down a new doctor, Eliza Minnick, who’s been hired to revamp the hospital’s residency program. Minnick intends to take Dr. Webber’s job.
