Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition won’t be locked to the Rockstar Games Launcher anymore if the recent claim is accurate.
According to a prominent leaker @BillbilKun, remasters of the acclaimed GTA games will be coming to Epic Games Store on January 19 at 11 a.m. EST. They further mention that the title will be on a 50% sale for the first week, so it’s a perfect time to grab it for $29.99.
When asked about a possible Steam release, the leaker claims they have no information. However, they guess it will be released there as well; previous shenanigans by Rockstar support the speculation.
About the Leaker
Leaks and rumors should always be taken with a grain of salt. But billbil-kun is respected and has accurately leaked many details about PS+ monthly games and Epic's winter giveaways.
The definitive edition contains the remasters of three GTA games, namely, GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas.
Reception of Games
The original three games received universal acclaim from both fans and critics. However, the remasters were critically panned. Fans criticized the remasters for cut content, bugs, technical issues, and more, and many didn’t like the new art style either.
Rockstar released multiple patches to address the said issues but the remasters are still nowhere close to the product that these fantastic games deserved. The definitive edition is one of the worst-rated GTA games ever released, currently sitting at a Metacritic user rating of 0.6/10 as of writing.
The remasters weren’t developed by Rockstar but were handled by Grove Street Games — an independent studio known for handling mobile ports of games.
