Console players finally have the chance to get their hands on the award-winning game Hades. First released on PC and Nintendo Switch, it is now playable on PlayStation and Xbox, both current-gen and next-gen models. The Boxed Edition for the consoles is priced at $29.99.
For those who have been living under a rock, the game has received universal acclaim. Metacritic has named it the “#1 Best Xbox Series X Game of 2021” and “#1 Best PlayStation 5 Game of 2021.” Hades took five trophies during the 2021 BAFTA Games Awards including the Best Game award. The game also took home five wins including Game of the Year at the 2021 D.I.C.E. Awards. It also was named Game of the Year during the Gayming Awards 2021.
Going back to the console release, the Retail Edition comes with additional goodies. There’s the digital download code that players can use to get the Hades Original Soundtrack, which offers two and half hours of music by composer Darren Korb.
The physical copy also comes with a full-color and 32-page character compendium booklet that features character art inked by Jen Zee. That’s not all since the first-run prints of the physical copies for both PlayStation and Xbox will be emblazoned with stunning metallic foil across its cover art.
It goes without saying that the next-gen versions offer a technical boost with the game running at 4K at a target 60 FPS. The current-gen versions, on the other hand, perform at 1080p at a target 60 FPS.
For PlayStation 5, the game features improved controller vibration as well as controller lighting for its DualSense wireless controller. The PS4 version, meanwhile, comes with a free upgrade to the digital PS5 version.
For Xbox, Hades is going to use Smart Delivery that allows access to both the Xbox One title and the Xbox Series X/S title.
In a press statement, Supergiant Games Creative Director Greg Kasavin shared that when it came to Hades, they wanted the experience to be more inviting than ever. He added that they’re excited to hear more from console players about their thoughts about the game.
Private Division Executive Producer Roger Kurtz revealed that the game had already gotten a lot of critical praise and this new release allows Hades to be introduced to a new audience. Aside from owning this award-winning game, he went on to say that console players will enjoy the extra items.
