Halo 3 has finally joined Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC and 343 Industries has capitalized on this opportunity by adding some interesting content to the game. However, this content will not change how the game plays, but it will really make you ogle at your weapons.
In July, 343 Industries announced on Halo's official website, Halo Waypoint, what the studio has planned for the Master Chief Collection in the future. One of those plans included the addition of customization options. Well, we have some good news and customization will become available in Halo 3 after the next update. Although weapon skins are major highlights here, you can also customize your visors.
Cosmetics in Halo 3 can be unlocked by completing challenges and progressing through the seasons. You can use these cosmetic items in the online multiplayer and show off your collection to your opponents. 343 Industries' Design Director Max Szlagor said that weapon cosmetics are going to be the initial steps in a long way of introducing additional customization options to Halo 3 as the seasons move forward.
For now, we have no idea what these weapons cosmetics will look like. However, Technical Designer Dana Jerpack hinted that gold weapon skins will become available for some weapons.
Given how 343 Industries has been treading the path, it seems that the studio is testing the waters to introduce a Battle Pass in Halo Infinite. Considering how fans reacted to Halo 5: Guardians' monetization, it is certain that Microsoft wants to be careful this time around. This can easily be achieved by introducing a Battle Pass to older titles and seeing how fans react to this progression system.
Halo 3 is currently available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
