Harry Potter: Wizards Unite officially launched its latest limited-time event with the Calamity Brilliant Event. This is a follow-up to the Brilliant Event: Fantastic Flora and Fauna. Unlike the first event, this new one is going to be celebrated over two separate weeks.
The first week started Tuesday and lasts until July 23. The second week of the event is expected to begin July 30 and end on August 6.
So what can you expect with the first week?
Well, the Fantastic Flora and Fauna event had a story focused on Hagrid. This time around (the first week, at least) appears to put focus on the titular hero, Harry Potter.

Tips & Tricks
While this gives you an overview of the event, here are some tips and tricks that can hopefully help you complete this event:
1. Set the tone
The event lasts one week and gives you two approaches: do some serious grinding or take your time doing it. Not everyone has the time to simply grind away, so you’re left with the second option. Pick the trace encounters that you need so you don’t waste too much spell energy.
2. Portkeys
As you can see in the Special Assignments, you need to unlock Portkeys. Try to use your keys and only unlock them when the Special Assignments call for it.
3. Potions
There are two important things to keep in mind when it comes to potions.
The first is to prepare ingredients. As seen from the Special Assignments, you are eventually going to need to brew a certain number of potions. The best option is to choose potions that have the shortest brewing time. Once you have that, then make sure that you have the ingredients needed to brew them. Excluding the cauldron that you can rent, you should have four slots to brew potions. That said, we recommend these potions:
- Exstimulo Potion
- Brewing time: 2 hours
- Recipe
- 1 Bitterroot
- 1 Re’em Blood
- 1 Snowdrop
- 1 Granian Hair
- Healing Potion
- Brewing time: 2 hours
- Recipe
- 1 Wormwood
- 3 Bubotuber Pus
- 2 Dittany
- 1 Dragon Liver
You can also brew potions while you're resting or sleeping. This means you can afford longer brew times and better potions. We recommend these potions since they are of great use particularly in dealing with difficult Confoundables:
- Dwadle Draught
- Brewing time: 6 hours
- Receipe
- 2 Valerian Root
- 1 Sopophorous Bean
- 1 Butterscotch
- 1 Hermit Crab Shell
- Strong Exstimulo Potion
- Brewing time: 4 hours
- Recipe
- 3 Bitterroot
- 1 Re’em Blood
- 4 Snowdrop
- 1 Abraxan Hair
- Potent Exstimulo Potion
- Brewing time: 8 hours
- Recipe
- 4 Bitterroot
- 2 Re’em Blood
- 6 Snowdrop
- 1 Unicorn Hair
The second thing you need to know is that once you have the potions, always remember to use them in order to give you an advantage and not waste spell energy. The two potions that you can stock up on are:
- Exstimulo
- There are three types of these potions: Basic, Strong, and Potent. What this potion does is to improve your spell cast when it comes to Traces, and more importantly, Wizarding Challenges. So be sure to have these ready.
- Dwadle Draught
- This potion lowers the chances of the Confoundable fleeing with the Foundable. This means you get more chances to complete a trace encounter.
That’s it for week one of the Calamity Brilliant Event.
