A new update is now live in Hearthstone which introduces new PvE content to Mercenaries. Called as Mythic Boss Rush, it's a Zone where Bounties are short battles versus a series of Bounty Bosses like points of interest or regular minion battles. Each day a new Boss Rush becomes available to players until they reset.
How it works is that each Boss Rush is composed of three Bounty Boss fights. After that, there's a final fight against two Bounty Bosses at the same time. These bosses have random anomaly effects which make them stronger and are based on a sliding difficulty setting players can choose for themselves. For each Boss Rush clear, players get Renown. In addition, most of the rewards come from the first clear.
In Mythic Boss Rush, players can use Renown to upgrade their Mercenaries even beyond Maxed. Renown can be spent on abilities, equipment, or even shared treasures to receive extra stat boosts with their upgrades. The upgrades continue from one Boss Rush to the next, from week to week. What that means is that it’s possible to take on tougher bosses and obtain more rewards over time.
However, it's important to remember that these upgrades won't carry over to other parts of Mercenaries. If you're excited, Mythic Boss Rush can be unlocked through a free upgrade to the Travel Point. The upgrade becomes available once Heroic Bounties are unlocked and players have at least one Maxed Mercenary.
New Factions
A new PvE content isn't the only thing added to Mercenaries. Players should be happy to know that Factions have also been added. This is an additional classification system for grouping Mercenaries much like types. It represents different groups of characters in the game, and Factions can be identified through a flag located in the upper right corner of the card.
The Factions are:
- Horde
- Alliance
- Explorer
- Empire
- Legion
- Scourge
In addition, Pirate is being converted from a type into a Faction. There will also be upcoming updates to how several abilities, equipment, and treasures interact with these new Factions to allow new synergies across types.
