In March, both gaming and movie industries were shocked to learn about the sudden passing of Lance Reddick - a prominent and talented actor. Throughout his career, Reddick has been involved in several high-profile projects including The Wire, Lost, the John Wick series, and Fringe.
He had also lent his talents to the video game industry, most known for his role as Commander Zavala in Destiny 2 and its subsequent expansions. However, it was his role in the Horizon video game series that stuck with many gamers.
Reddick played the role of Sylens in Horizon Zero Dawn, its sequel, and Burning Shores - the expansion of the sequel. The latter of which was released posthumously.
A few days ago, developer of the Horizon series, Guerrilla Games, released an update for the sequel and it added an in-game memorial to the respected actor. The tribute wasn't mentioned in the patch notes, but the developer did tweet about it.
You can find the memorial in the Burning Shores expansion. Check out the video below for the exact location.
As you can see, the memorial is located near an elevated piece of land surrounded by flowers and overlooking the mountains. The word "LANCE REDDICK" is present in holographic form with rays coming from the ground toward the letters.
Even after his death, Lance Reddick has several more projects coming out. Gamers will be able to listen to his soothing voice as Commander Zavala once again in future Destiny 2 content. He also plays the role of Hellboy in Hellboy: Web of Wyrd, an upcoming third-person beat 'em up video game developed by Upstream Arcade, that features rogue-lite elements. Whether he will be present in the third Horizon game in any form is yet to be known.
He is also present in the recently released comedy movie White Men Can't Jump. Fantasy fans will be able to see him one last time in Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV show, set for release in 2024.
