The gaming industry has come a long way in recent years, with developers focusing on making their games more accessible to a wider audience. Sony games are known for being extremely accessible and Horizon Forbidden West is no different. Developer Guerrilla Games recently released a patch that introduced a ton of accessibility features to their latest title.
Patch 1.21 also prepares the game for the Burning Shores expansion, which will go live on PS5 tomorrow. Maybe that’s why the update is exclusive to PS5. It is not known if PS4 players will get the new accessibility features or not.
Patch 1.21 will allow players to enlarge the size of the subtitle, an important feature for players having trouble reading small-sized text. A color-blindness setting has been added as well, along with navigation assist in Focus Mode.
Many players who aren’t good with a controller will also appreciate the auto camera option. A Thalassophobia mode is included and is a blessing for those suffering from fear of large bodies of water. We are interested to see how this will actually work in the game.
Thank the gods, the developer also added the auto-pickup option, meaning when turned on, players won’t have to press a button to loot every time. Just go near the loot to automatically put it in your inventory.
