PlayStation Showcase is back, or at least it will be in the next few days. The major event by Sony will go live on Twitter and YouTube May 24, 4 p.m. EST. The announcement of PS Showcase doesn't come as a surprise since previous leaks and rumors have hinted at the same thing. The official confirmation came out via a PS blog.
The show will feature a wide variety of games and will be a bit longer than an hour. Players can expect first-party titles from PlayStation Studios across the globe, with focus on PS5 and PS VR2. Several third-party titles and indie projects will be present as well.
Expected Titles
The actual names of the games haven't been mentioned but we can make some educated guesses. Insomniac's upcoming title, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, is all but confirmed to be there. SM2 is planned for late 2023 and is the closest first-party title to release. Many fans also expect the reveal of the previously announced The Last of Us multiplayer game. Neil Druckmann did mention that more details about the MP title will be revealed later this year, and PS Showcase is as good a place as any. Death Stranding 2 is another title we can expect to be there.
Possible PC Ports Announcements
It would also not be foolish to expect announcements of future PC ports. The Last of Us Part 1 was the last offering by Sony to PC players, and that was released back in March. PC releases have proven to be profitable for Sony, so we expect more titles down the horizon.
The Windows versions of Ghost of Tsushima, Demon's Souls, Horizon Forbidden West, and The Last of Us Part 2 seem most likely.
Possibility of a Brilliant Showcase
There's a good chance that PS Showcase could be the best one to date. Sony must have tons of fantastic games to unveil, given that the publisher didn't host a showcase last year. We have no idea what most of the PS Studios are working on, and that mystery could be solved in less than a week.
