ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder returns from its winter hiatus this week with an all-new episode. Season 2 episode 10 picks up where the winter finale left off: Annalise (Viola Davis) has been shot by Wes (Alfred Enoch), Catherine (Amy Okuda) is found in a forest with blood stains, and viewers learn Annalise knew Wes when he was a young kid named Christoph.
"With one word, his entire life has changed, because now he needs answers about something that he probably didn’t even know he needed answers about," said show creator Peter Nowalk to Entertainment Weekly. "He now knows that Annalise has those answers. He’s got a lot to process."
As for Annalise, she is going to be okay according to Davis.
"Annalise is fine,” said Davis to ET. “Listen, Annalise is working it out like we are all working it out."
Here are six things to know about season 2 episode 10 of How to Get Away With Murder:
1. The tenth episode of the season is the mid-season premiere. It airs on Thursday, Feb. 11 on ABC at 10 p.m. EST.
2. Season 2 episode 10 is titled What Happened to You, Annalise?
Viewers should not expect the entire story to unravel in the first episode back.
"There’s a lot to read into there," told Nowalk to Entertainment Weekly. "We’re going to take some time to tell that story, so I don’t want to give away anything. You can analyze that scene, what her expression means, what Eve’s doing there, what Wes is saying to the FBI agent. I think there’s a lot of information there, but there’s a mystery for a reason."
3. There will be a time jump, as episode 10 will take place weeks after Annalise is shot.
4. According to the official synopsis: “Weeks after Wes shot Annalise, he and the rest of the Keating 5 deal with the ramifications of that night as Annalise works toward recovery.”
5. The Hapstall case will be wrapped up shortly. “It’s not my goal to leave a case like that lingering too long,” said Nowalk to TV Line.
6. Going forward, the show may not be as dark as it has been thus far. In an interview with Business Insider, Nowalk admitted he wants to balance out the darkness with some lightness.
"The show is always going to be intense and dark, but I’m craving a balance of fun, too," said Nowalk.
